Plant Growth Promoting Bacteria - What Are They?
Plant growth promoting bacteria are environmentally friendly, renewable sources of nutrients and vital hormones. They restore soil fertility which ultimately improves plant growth. They also fight agricultural pathogens and alleviate abiotic stresses.
We use a range of plant growth promoting bacteria including Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Bacillus simplex, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Azotobacter chroococcum and rhizobia etc. Whilst Bacillus and Pseudomonas are general growth promotors for a range of plants, some more specific organisms are particularly beneficial for Bonsai.
Biochar is a carbon rich medum which has the ability to remove carbon from the atmosphere. 1 Kg takes 3.6 Kg of CO2 out of the atmosphere and buries it in the soil. It reduces nitrous oxide emissions from soil, reduces loss of nutrients, raises pH and holds onto water.
Combining the benefits of biochar and the plant growth promoting benefits of probio carbon - Plant and Soil Health results in less fertilizer and less irrigation needed. Ultimately leading to healthier soils, healthier plants and higher yields. We currently have sunflower husk, wood and olive stone biochar for sale.
